Carmenta Mobile Application Successfully Tested for Mass Casualty Incidents

18 novembre 2016 ,

In collaboration with Valencia’s Emergency Medical Services, Carmenta has created and tested a prototype application that uses modern mobile technology to assist in the coordination of mass casualty incidents (MCI).
A large-scale simulation of a tram accident was carried out in Valencia in early November 2016. It involved 400 resources from different agencies, including Valencia’s Emergency Medical Services, rescue services, various law enforcement authorities (local, national, scientific), the Emergency Military Unit and Valencia’s regional Emergency Coordination Centre.
Carmenta’s new MCI technology was extensively tested as part of this simulation and found to be a success. Some of the benefits from the simulation were:

  • They could easily update the casualty’s records.
  • The on-site incident commander could quickly gain an overview of the situation.
  • The ambulance command and control centre had real-time access to detailed information about the casualties, their diagnoses and a description of their injuries. This enabled them to prioritise each casualty more effectively and determine the most suitable hospital destination.
