The Swedish Maritime Administration (SMA) is the responsible authority for Maritime and Aeronautical Search and Rescue (SAR) services in Sweden and the Swedish JRCC is responsible for coordination of the SAR missions within SMA. The new system will be designed to coordinate complex SAR missions, which will require close cooperation between Carmenta and JRCC staff during the development process. The system will conform to international maritime standards and include advanced functions for decision support. The system will have a rich set of GIS features and will communicate with several external systems, including the Swedish system for 112 emergency calls managed by SOS Alarm. The new JRCC application will be based entirely on Carmenta’s platform for GIS and Command & Control and will be delivered for operation in last quarter of 2014.
