Carmenta launches a new version of Carmenta Server

Monday, November 28, 2011

Carmenta is proud to present a new generation of geospatial web servers. Version 4 of the Carmenta Server fully utilizes modern hardware architectures and supports new ways of deploying web services on physical servers as well as in virtualized and cloud environments. The new version is available in both a native 64-bit and a 32-bit version.

All web service interfaces have been optimized for improved performance, which reinforces Carmenta Server’s position as the most powerful web map server on the market.

The Carmenta Server has built-in support for open standards and with the new version even more web service interfaces are available that are based on Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) specifications.

Carmenta Engine 5.2 Released

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

Carmenta today announced that Carmenta Engine 5.2 is now shipping.

New functionality includes:

  • Carmenta Engine 64-bit version. Support for building native 64-bit applications on 64-bit Windows versions. This means that Carmenta Engine now can operate with other 64-bit components (such as 64-bit databases) in applications. Another advantage is that 64-bit applications can allocate more than 3 GB of internal memory. This can lead to significant performance improvements, since applications can store larger quantities of data in the fast internal memory.
  • Nautical Charts according to S57 and S52 Standards. Carmenta Engine 5.2 introduces a new extension that enables reading and rendering of nautical charts according to the International Hydrographic Organization’s S57 and S52 standards.
  • Real-Time Label and Symbol Deconfliction. It is now possible to use the Carmenta Engine’s sophisticated text and symbol placement algorithms in real-time and in ‘moving map’ systems.
  • STANAG 2019 APP-6B Tactical Symbology Support.
  • Coordinate Formatting and Parsing Utilities. Handy methods for handling coordinate strings, e.g. longitude/latitude to/from MGRS notation.
  • Geographic JPEG 2000 Support.
  • OGC WCS Support. Read OGC coverage data (i.e. raster data) directly from map servers that implement the Open Geospatial Consortium Web Coverage Service (WCS) standard.

Carmenta Sverigekarta - a map for decision support

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Carmenta Sverigekarta is a new digital map over Sweden produced by Carmenta for use in mission critical systems. It is based on topographic map data from Lantmäteriet (the Swedish mapping, cadastral and land registration authority) and up-to-date road data from Trafikverket (the Swedish Transport Administration). The map’s layout and color scheme is optimized for use as a background map. If used in combination with Carmenta Server, with support for Open Geospatial Consortiums (OGC) interfaces it is easy to set up a WMS compliant web solution.

A brief description of Carmenta Sverigekarta in Swedish is available here. For more detailed information about the map and how to use it in mission critical systems, please contact Carmenta or send an email.
